A whole other meaning of Zone Ex
Of course Joe Marler would change it up
Recently I was a guest on Joe Marler’s Things People Do podcast and, well, it didn’t turn out quite how I thought it would. I came armed with articles and a summary of recent research and we ended up discussing what they thought Zone Ex meant!
If you want to listen to the episode, you can wherever you get your podcasts. It’s here on Spotify and Apple.
Being in their studio “enfired” me up to put more energy into Safety Sistas, so I have started booking in interviews which will come out over the coming months. Yesterday I had a wonderful “walk and talk” episode recording with a guest who works as a Facilitator, and how their work impacts safety.
If you are interested in being on the show, or know someone who would be great, please send me an email.
And so, it’s almost time for my Taylor concert as she returns to London. I know I joke about being a Swiftie, but what I shared on the Ticketing Podcast a few months ago as well as my talks on Zone Ex at IBIT Cologne 2023 and YES Group in Groningen earlier this year, is that Zone Ex is incredibly important and needs to be planned for. This includes considering the rise of bad actors capitalising on “Tay-gaters” (ticketless fans gathering outside the event). Unfortunately this threat materialised as a planned terrorist attack at her concerts in Vienna last week.
Here’s the article I wrote about Post-Pandemic Crowd Behaviour at Taylor’s Eras Tour if you didn’t catch it before.
In other news, I am back teaching Pilates at my friends’ new studio The Movement Collective right next to Tower Bridge in London. If you are feeling a bit achy after the season, then perhaps it’s time for a movement practice like Pilates to improve posture, relieve aches and pains of being human (especially when we’re over 30). This is why I trained as a teacher, so I could balance the madness of the events world with a movement and embodying practice.
If you are in London and want to check it out, you can book here. (If you have never been to a Pilates studio and want an introduction, I would be delighted to show you around.)
Finally, I had some wonderful feedback from someone who read my post “You don’t owe anyone anything”, sharing how it helped them navigate a challenging relationship at work. It means a lot to hear this as it’s why I write and do what I do - to support others through navigating the challenges we face in life. Recently I had a little rant about boundaries and getting out of this mess on my other podcast Undo after talking with a friend who was considering quitting the industry due to sexism and inequality. Things can only begin to change when we surface the issue.
That’s it for now. I am currently writing a draft about The Eras Tour from a crowd safety perspective. It might complete after I have my own experience over the coming days. May the glitter commence.
